Un pic de pollution aux particules fines a eu lieu en ce début de semaine à Lyon ainsi que dans le Rhône, dû à une combinaison de facteurs.

Le pic de pollution aux particules fines dans la métropole de Lyon et dans le Rhône est dû à une combinaison de facteurs : les sources de polluants (pic de froid provocant la remise en route des systèmes de chauffage au bois chez les particuliers par exemple) et la météo.

Les sources de particules fines dans le Rhône sont majoritairement le chauffage résidentiel au bois.

Nb : La région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes est l’une des régions les plus utilisatrice d’énergie bois en France. Cela contribue aux émissions de particules fines (PM10 et PM2.5),  de benzo(a)pyrène et de monoxyde de carbone.

Les polluants émis par les sources de pollution s’accumulent dans l’atmosphère à cause du temps ensoleillé froid et stable (pas de pluie, ni de vent) qu’il y a eu dans la métropole de Lyon.

Les températures froides le matin et douces l’après-midi, du fait de l’ensoleillement, entraînent un phénomène « d’inversion de température » le matin et le soir. Cela se produit quand le sol se refroidit rapidement pendant la nuit laissant un air en altitude plus chaud ce qui crée un « couvercle » au-dessus des bâtiments et favorise ainsi l’accumulation des polluants.  La dispersion des polluants, émis par les sources comme le chauffage résidentiel ou le trafic, est empêchée.
