Crème solaire, se protéger sa santé et l’environnement c’est possible

Chaque été la même question revient : quelle crème solaire choisir pour la santé de ma peau ? Et si en plus de prendre soin de notre peau,  on prenait soin de notre environnement ? 

Crème solaire et impacts sur les océans

Utiliser de la crème solaire pour protéger sa peau est essentiel en cas de fort indice UV, cependant c’est 0,8 litres de crème solaire qui se diluent chaque seconde dans l’océan.

Cette pollution a un impact direct sur les coraux puisqu’elle provoque leur blanchiment puis leur mort. Elles seraient aussi suspectées d’inhiber la croissance du phytoplancton, qui est à la base de la chaîne alimentaire marine.

Il est possible de limiter ce désastre environnemental pour les écosystèmes marins en choisissant correctement sa crème solaire et en favorisant des gestes simples. Il faut dans un premier temps faire la différence entre filtre chimique et filtre minéral.

Une crème solaire contient des filtres UV. Ceux-ci peuvent être chimiques ou minéraux ou un mélange des 2.

Les filtres chimiques absorbent les UV alors que les filtres minéraux les réfléchissent.

Les filtres chimiques

Ce sont les filtres chimiques en général qui sont à l’origine du blanchiment des coraux. Les substances faisant offices de filtres chimiques sont les suivantes (liste non exhaustive, il y en a 25 en tout) :

👉 Oxybenzone (interdit dans certaines régions du monde)

👉 Octinoxate (interdit dans certaines régions du monde)

👉 Octocrylène

👉 Benzophénones

👉 Aminobenzoates

👉 Isomamyl p- Methoxycinnamate

👉 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor

👉 Drometrizole Trisiloxane (Meroxyl XL)

Les filtres minéraux

Il existe des filtres minéraux (seuls filtres autorisés dans les crèmes solaires biologiques), ils laissent cependant des traces blanches et ont donc été développés en version nanoparticules pour éviter les traces (Ils sont cependant à éviter sous cette forme). On les retrouve sous les noms suivants (liste non exhaustive)

👉 Dioxyde de titane

👉 Oxyde zinc

Adopter un comportement écoresponsable l’été, nos conseils 

Pour adopter un comportement écoresponsable ou choisir une crème non polluante, c’est à dire respectueuse de l’environnement, il faut favoriser :

  • Une crème qui résiste à l’eau
  • Les filtres minéraux à haut indice UV (attention qu’il n’y ait pas de mélange avec des filtres chimiques), si vous avez la peau sensible et que l’indice UV est inférieur à 50 FPS, favorisez une crème à FPS 50 réduit en filtres chimiques si possible.
  • Les crèmes solaires avec peu d’ingrédients et sans parfum
  • Ne pas exposer les enfants de moins de 3 ans au soleil et donc nul besoin de leur mettre de la crème solaire
  • Rester à l’ombre entre 12h et 16h, si vous êtes à l’ombre pas besoin de crème solaire
  • Se baigner avec un tee-shirt et casquette ou chapeau pour éviter une surutilisation de la crème solaire

Un des principaux risques du cancer de la peau est le soleil, notamment une surexposition dans l’enfance avant l’âge de 15 ans. Il est aussi responsable de nombreux cas de cataractes.

Cependant, il est nécessaire de s’exposer au soleil pour la synthèse de vitamine D, ou améliorer certaines pathologies comme le psoriasis ou l’eczéma mais une légère exposition suffit !
