Avec les beaux jours qui arrivent, la nécessité de bien s’hydrater reste primordiale, mais quelles eaux favoriser ? Alors plutôt team eau du robinet ou eau en bouteille ? Les différences et les faux a priori ne sont pas toujours ceux que l’on croit, voici un vrai ou faux pour y voir plus clair.

L’eau en bouteille nuit gravement à l’environnement : VRAI ✅
C’est un fait qui commence à réellement être pris en compte et connu de la société, l’eau en bouteille pollue bien plus que l’eau du robinet. C’est environ 180 000 tonnes de bouteilles en plastique qui sont produites chaque année en France, soit environ 3 kilos par personne et par an. La dégradation d’une bouteille en plastique se chiffre en centaine d’années si celle-ci est jetée dans la nature. De plus, le plastique ne peut être recyclé que 2 ou 3 fois maximum et ensuite il devient un déchet ! Normalement une bouteille d’eau en plastique ne doit pas être réutilisée car le risque de contamination de l’eau augmente. Les bouteilles en verre si elles sont à usage unique ne sont pas mieux pour l’environnement non plus.
L’eau du robinet a un goût pas toujours très agréable : VRAI ✅ (et FAUX)
Les détracteurs de l’eau du robinet vous parleront de son goût parfois désagréable. Cela dépend de l’endroit, certains réseaux d’eau du robinet ont un goût très neutre. Cependant, il est vrai que certaines eaux du robinet peuvent avoir un goût chloré, cela vient de l’ajout à l’eau d’un traitement au chlore pour éviter la prolifération des microorganismes. Rassurez-vous ce goût peut être enlevé en laissant reposer l’eau à l’air libre ou au réfrigérateur avant consommation.
L’eau en bouteille est 10 fois plus cher que l’eau du robinet : FAUX ❌
Alors non, l’eau en bouteille n’est absolument pas 10 fois plus cher, elle est 100 à 300 fois plus cher au litre que l’eau du robinet ! L’eau du robinet est en moyenne à 0,3 centimes d’euro le litre alors que l’eau en bouteille revient à 30 centimes d’euro le litre en moyenne. Vous l’aurez compris ce n’est pas l’eau en bouteille qui va vous permettre de faire des économies !
L’eau du robinet est de moins bonne qualité (sanitaire) que l’eau en bouteille : FAUX ❌
L’eau du robinet tout comme l’eau en bouteille suivent une réglementation très stricte. Il faut aussi savoir que l’eau du robinet est l’un des produits alimentaires les plus contrôlés. Ce n’est pas moins de 70 paramètres différents qui font l’objet d’une surveillance et sont régulièrement contrôlés. En France, l’eau du robinet est donc parfaitement saine et consommable quotidiennement. Il faut cependant noter que dans certaines régions, il arrive que l’eau du robinet, quelques jours par an, soit polluée (par des pesticides, nitrates ou autres résidus), dans ce cas, la population est prévenue. La consommation de l’eau du robinet implique de prendre en compte le type de tuyauterie. En effet, les bâtiments construits avant 1948 sont susceptibles d’avoir des tuyaux en plomb, plomb qui peut par la suite se retrouver dans l’eau. Seulement dans ce cas, l’eau du robinet est déconseillée pour les enfants et un système de filtration est recommandé.
L’eau de source en bouteille contrairement à l’eau du robinet a une composition stable : FAUX ❌
Ceci est un fait généralement méconnu, mais la composition de l’eau de source en bouteille peut varier grandement pour une même marque. Les eaux de sources peuvent provenir de sources souterraines différentes même si le nom sur la bouteille reste identique, il en résulte une composition variant dans le temps et suivant la localisation. Prenons un exemple concret, avec une bouteille d’eau estampillée « Cristalline ». Certaines bouteilles de cette eau peuvent contenir 102mg/L de calcium et 4.2 mg/L de magnésium alors que d’autres bouteilles ne contiendront que 44.4mg/L de calcium et 1mg/L de magnésium. Il faut donc bien vérifier les étiquettes si vous achetez ces eaux de sources pour une teneur particulière en minéraux.
L’eau minérale en bouteille est conforme aux critères de potabilité de l’eau : FAUX ❌
Cela peut paraître étonnant mais l’eau minérale ne respecte pas les critères de potabilité de l’eau. Pas de panique, vous n’allez pas tomber malade, ces eaux répondent tout de même à des critères mais ceux-ci leur sont spécifiques. Leur teneur trop élevée en certains minéraux les sort de la catégorie eau potable. Par exemple, la limite du fluor est fixée à 1,5 mg/l pour l’eau potable, les eaux minérales peuvent en revanche en contenir jusqu’à 5 mg/l. Soyez vigilant avec la consommation d’eau minérale si vous souffrez de certaines pathologies qui nécessitent un apport en minéraux (sodium, calcium, magnésium, fluor…) restreint.
Il est très risqué de donner de l’eau du robinet à un bébé : FAUX ❌
On a tendance à donner de l’Evian, l’eau du Mont Roucous ou tout autres eaux contenant la mention « convient à la préparation des aliments des nourrissons » aux bébés car ce sont des eaux faiblement minéralisées ce qui correspond à leurs besoins. Cependant l’eau du robinet peut convenir si certaines précautions sont prises. Premièrement il est impératif que les canalisations ne contiennent pas de plomb. Il faut aussi laisser l’eau (à une température inférieure à 25°C) couler quelques secondes avant de l’utiliser pour bébé et il est fortement conseillé de la faire bouillir avant utilisation.
L’eau en bouteille a plus de vertus que l’eau du robinet : VRAI ✅ et FAUX ❌
Quand on boit de l’eau du robinet on est contraint sur ses propriétés (pH, minéraux, dureté…), alors que la consommation d’eau en bouteille permet de choisir quelles propriétés favoriser suivant les envies ou besoins.
On distingue plusieurs types d’eaux minérales :
- Les eaux minérales calciques (avec plus de 150 mg/litre de calcium) complètent les apports en calcium ;
- Les eaux minérales magnésiennes (avec plus de 50 mg/litre de magnésium) complètent les apports en magnésium et luttent contre la constipation ;
- Les eaux minérales bicarbonatées (avec une teneur en bicarbonate supérieure à 600 mg/litre) améliorent la digestion ;
- Les eaux minérales naturelles (riches en sodium avec plus de 200 mg/litre de sodium) sont recommandées pour les sportifs qui effectuent des efforts intenses.
L’eau en bouteille est contaminée par des nanoplastiques : VRAI ✅
Selon les conclusions de l’étude publiée dans la revue Pnas (« Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences ») le 8 Janvier 2024, des chercheurs de l’Université de Colombia ont examiné trois marques populaires d’eau en bouteille vendues aux États-Unis. Pour chaque litre testé, ils ont détecté entre 110 000 et 370 000 particules, dont 90 % étaient des nanoplastiques (diamètre inférieur à 1 micromètre), les 10 % restants étant des microplastiques (diamètre entre 1 micromètre et 5 millimètres). Même si les eaux minérales ont des vertus il est conseillé de varier le type d’eau consommée en alternant avec de l’eau du robinet par exemple. En effet, les eaux riches en calcium peuvent être à l’origine de calculs rénaux et sont donc déconseillées en cas de problèmes rénaux, les eaux riches en sodium ne conviennent pas si vous avez déjà des problèmes d’hypertension ou êtes sous un régime hyposodique.
Choisissez tout de même l’eau du robinet chaque fois que possible. Les systèmes de traitement de l’eau municipaux sont souvent plus équipés pour filtrer les contaminants, y compris les nanoplastiques, que certaines eaux embouteillées.
